UCLA Tied for Seventh at Fall Preview

The second-ranked UCLA men's golf team is tied for seventh place after the first round at the Fall Preview, hosted by Virginia Tech at The Cascades Golf Resort in Hot Springs, VA.
The Bruins posted a first round total of 297, 14 shots over par, and trail first place Clemson by seven strokes. Augusta State is second at 290, followed by North Carolina at 291. Florida and Wake Forest are tied for fourth at 292 and Arizona is sixth at 293.
Individually, junior John Poucher led the Bruins with an even par round of 70 and is tied for fourth place, one shot behind two players tied for second. Travis Johnson posted a two-over par round of 72 and is tied for 11th place. Senior John Merrick, despite consecutive triple bogeys on the ninth and 10th holes, rallied for a four-over par 74 and is tied for 28th. Seniors Steve Conway and Roy Moon are tied for 61st place after carding 78s.
North Carolina's Kevin Silva leads the field after firing a two-under par 68.
Because of inclement weather, the tournament has been shortened to 36 holes. The final round will be played Tuesday.
