Men's Golf Face First Pac-10 Foes At Corvallis, Ore.

What's Up This Week: The Cougars head to Corvallis, Ore. for the Northwest Collegiate Classic that takes place, Sept. 25-26 at the Trysting Tree Golf Course, a par 72 and 7,026 yard course...teams will shoot 36 holes Thursday and the final 18 Friday for a total of 54...groups will tee off on the first hole beginning at 7:53 a.m. and from the 10th tee at 7:48 a.m. both days.
Field: The 12-team field consists of Cal Poly, Cal State-Northridge, Long Beach State, New Mexico State, Oregon, Oregon State, Portland, San Jose State, UC-Irvine, UC-Riverside, Washington State, Winthrop.
Last Week At The Mean Green Invitational: Ryan Camp recorded his sixth career top 10 finish with a tie for ninth place at the Mean Green Invitational...Jordan Madison also finished tied for ninth in his first ever tournament of his collegiate career...the team finished tied for fifth and shot a tournament low 282 in the second round...they finished only two shots out of third place.
Head Coach Walt Williams On The Northwest Collegiate Classic: 'It will be a good test for us to see how some of the teams in our region are going to be. We will find a little bit about ourselves. It is a long course and should benefit us. We will get to play our irons a lot. Ryan Camp played well last week and is a top 25 caliber player every week. Isaac Woods is coming out of a little slump, but put together a very good round last week and is playing better. Jordan Madison played really well last week and is a solid player. Chad Carlson will be playing number four this week. Matt Fladwood has earned the opportunity to compete when the score counts by his showing last week. He is from Oregon and is very familiar with the course. Kevin Chen will also be competing with us.'
Head Cougars: Coach Walt Williams is in his sixth year as head coach at WSU...in 2002, Williams was selected as Pac-10 Coach of the Year while leading his team to the NCAA West Regionals...Williams has helped four different golfers earn All Pac-10 honors and has had five different earn All Pac-10 Academic honors...Assistant coach Heather Holte is in her third year at WSU...Holte played Pac-10 golf for the University of Oregon and graduated in 1997...she is now an amateur player at Oregon.
