Women's Golf in Sixth Place at Mason Rudolph Invitational

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - The Arizona women's golf team stands in sixth place Friday after its first day of competition at the Mason Rudolph Invitational in Nashville, Tenn.
The Wildcats stand in sixth place after shooting 4-over-par 292. Arizona trails first round leader UCLA by 11 strokes after the bruins shot a 7-under-par 281. Florida (287) and Georgia (288) occupy second and third places, respectively. Tournament-host Vanderbilt and Furman are tied for fourth with a 2-over-par 290.
Individually Arizona sophomore Erica Blasberg is tied for second place with three other golfers, after shooting a first round 70 (-2). The native of Corona, Calif. returned to the tournament where her sensational freshman season took off. Blasberg finished second, which was the first of nine consecutive top ten, finishes including two victories.
Junior Mar Garcia is tied at 17th after shooting even par 72 in round one. Sophomore Cassandra Kirkland is tied for 28th at 2-over-par 74. Sophomore Lani Elston is tied for 44th after shooting 4-over-par 76. Sophomore Whitney Welch tied for 49th after shooting 5-over-par 77.
Also competing for Arizona as an individual is junior Miriam Kraschinski, who is tied along with Welch at 49th place after carding 5-over-par 77.
The Wildcats will tee off in Saturday second round beginning at 8:15 a.m. CST. The tournament is being played at the Legends Club of Tennessee, a par 72, 6,276-yard layout.
