Cardinal Golfers Open Fall Season At Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational

Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford women's golf team kicks off the 2003 fall season at the 22nd Annual Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, Monday through Wednesday, October 6-8, at the Sahalee Golf and Country Club in Redmond, Washington (par 72, 6,030 yards).
Fifteen teams will participate in the tournament including Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, California, Long Beach State, Nevada, Oregon, Oregon State, San Francisco, Southern California, Stanford, Washington, Washington State, UCLA and UNLV.
The teams will play 18 holes each day for a total of 54 holes. Full results will be posted on www.gohuskies.com at the completion of each round.
Last year, USC won the invitational, shooting a three-day total of nine-over par 885, followed by host-Washington (900) and Pepperdine (901). Stanford finished fifth overall, carding a 905 (307-304-294) for the tourney. Individually, the Trojans Mikaela Parmlid took top medalist honors, firing a five-under par 214. Former Cardinal Kim Rowton placed sixth overall (76-71-74--221) to lead Stanford. Kelly Husted tied for 13th (76-77-72--225), carding her lowest round of the season (72) in the final round of play. Teammate Kim Kouwabunpat finished 44th (75-80-77--232) followed by Wendra Liang who tied for 49th (74-81-79--234). Angela Rho tied for 54th (79-79-77--235) and Stephanie Lue tied for 57th (77-78-81--236).
The Cardinal return five golfers from last year's squad (sophomore Kelly Husted, senior Kim Kouwabunpat, junior Wendra Liang, sophmore Stephanie Lue and senior Angela Rho) while welcoming two newcomers (Lauren Todd and Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana).
Stanford wrapped up the 2002-03 season with their 15th consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships after posting seven top-10 finishes during the regular season, including a runner-up finish at the Peg Barnard Collegiate.
The Cardinal are next in action when they host the Stanford Pepsi Invitational, October 17-19 at the Stanford Golf Course later this month.
