Bears Ready for Early Season Battle
Oct. 6, 2003
Two of Cal's up and coming players look to make names for themselves, as they travel to Chattanooga, Tenn., for the Icy Hot/ITA All-American event, Oct. 7-12.
Former Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and perennial all conference candidate Balazs Veress will open up things for the Bears in the qualifying rounds. #81 Veress will face the likes of Thomas Schoedk of Boise State in the early going. The Cal senior, who was 18-14 in singles competition last year, will strive to advance past the opening two rounds, to meet up with his doubles partner and fellow singles competitor, Conor Niland, who has a bye until the main draw starts on Thursday.
