Men's Golf Finishes 11th At Windon Memorial Classic

Glenview, Ill. - The Stanford men's golf team shot a third-round score of 306 to bring their 54-hole total to 895 and finished 11th overall at the Windon Memorial Classic at the North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Ill. Minnesota captured the team title firing a five-under par 859 for the tournament. Purdue and California tied for second (868), followed by Illinois (871) and Northwestern (878).
The Cardinal's top finisher was Blake Mastalir who carded a three-round score of five-over par 221 (71-72-78). Freshman Brandon Lawson tied for 36th individually, turning in an eight-over par 224 (71-74-79), followed by teammate Kevin Blue who shot a 225 (76-73-76). Sophomore Kyle Gentry tied for 57th on the leaderboard with a 228 (80-75-73) while Matt Savage tied for 80th overall with a 236 (81-72-83).
Purdue's Peter Richardson was crowned the individual champion, firing a 10-under par 206 over three rounds. Illinois' Joe Affrunti, Northwestern's Casey Strunk and Minnesota's Justin Smith tied for second with a five-under par 211. Heath West of LSU placed fifth (213).
The Cardinal are next in action, October 13-14 at The MacKenzie in Fairfax, Calif.
