The defending national champion UCLA Bruins, ranked No. 1 in all polls this week, take on New Mexico in a non-conference tilt Thursday night, then open their Pac-10 home slate with FRESNO STATE on Sunday... The Bruins will attempt to extend a six-game winning streak... The No. 8/No. 9 WASHINGTON Huskies, who own a 3-0-1 record away from their home field, travel to NR/No. 22 CALIFORNIA and STANFORD.... OREGON STATE also heads south to the Bay Area schools... Pac-10 teams have posted a 26-17-3 mark (.598) against non-conference opponents this season.

PAC-10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CALIFORNIA junior forward Mike Munoz has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 30-Oct. 6.
Munoz, from Los Alamitos, Calif., notched a goal and an assist in the Golden Bears' 3-1 Pac-10 opening win over rival Stanford on Oct. 5. Munoz scored Cal's first goal in the 18th minute and added an assist on the Bears' third goal, in the 55th minute. He ranks second on the team with seven points (2 goals/3 assists) and is seventh in the Pac-10 in shots per game (2.30 avg.).
California (5-4-1 overall, 1-0-0 Pac-10) hosts No. 9/No. 8 Washington (7-1-1, 1-1-0) and Oregon State (7-4-0, 1-1-0) this weekend.
This is the first weekly honor for Munoz and the fifth all-time Player of the Week honor for California.

CALIFORNIA: The Bears came back from a 1-0 deficit to defeat rival Stanford, 3-1, in their first Pac-10 action of the year... JR F Mike Munoz scored Cal's first goal in the 18th minute and added an assist on the Bears' third goal, in the 55th minute... Munoz is second on the team with seven points (2 goals/3 assists).
FRESNO STATE: The Bulldogs lost a pair of road matches at Washington and Oregon State to open Pac-10 play... SO GK Eric Kronberg tallied a career-high 12 saves in the 4-0 loss to the Beavers... Fresno State opens its Conference home slate against defending national champion UCLA on Sunday at 3 p.m.
OREGON STATE: The Beavers went 1-1 to open Pac-10 play over the weekend, falling 2-1 to UCLA and defeating Fresno State 4-0... SR GK Peter Billmeyer posted the school-record 13th shutout of his career in the blanking of Fresno State... It was Billmeyer's third shutout this season... SR D Ross Duncan scored his first goal of the season in the loss to the Bruins, knotting the score at 1-1 in the 56th minute... Duncan tallied his career-high sixth assist of the year in the win over the Bulldogs.
STANFORD: The Cardinal played Santa Clara to a 1-1 tie and fell at California in its Pac-10 opener last week... Stanford extended its unbeaten streak over the Broncos to eight games, posting a 6-0-2 mark against SCU since the last Santa Clara win, in 1997... JR F James Twellman contributed a goal and an assist over the weekend... He ranks second on the team with six points.
UCLA: SR GK Zach Wells posted his fifth solo shutout of the season Oct. 5 at Washington, as the Bruins opened Pac-10 play with shutout victories at Oregon State and against the Huskies... UCLA has shut out five of its last six opponents... FR MF Benny Feilhaber scored the game-winning goal in the 65th minute at No. 13 Washington... It was Feilhaber's second goal of the season; both have been game-winners.
WASHINGTON: The Huskies' six-game winning streak was snapped by defending national champion UCLA, as UW suffered it's first loss of the season on Oct. 5... The 1-0 UCLA win marked the fist time the Husky offense has been held scoreless on the season... SO MF Jeff Hoover led the UW attack with three shots... Washington defeated Fresno State 2-0 on Oct. 3, with second-half goals from freshmen Ty Harden and Kevin Forrest.
