Women's Golf Finishes 9th At Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate

TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State's split women's golf squads finished up their second fall tournaments of the year today, with the quintet at the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational grabbing a top-10 finish with a ninth-place showing at the event in Las Cruces, N.M., while the Sun Devils at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in Redmond, Wash., finished in 11th-place.

The Sun Devil squad at the Price's Give 'Em Five shot a combined 71-over par for the three-day event (310-314-311=935) with sophomore Alissa Kuczka (Phoenix, Ariz.) leading the way. She finished with an eight-over 224 (75-76-73=224), good enough for a tie for 11th, helped by an impressive round of 73 today. Following her were sophomore Sara Jones (Valencia, Calif.) in 39th at 17-over (76-76-81=233), freshman Lindsay Anderson (El Paso, Texas) in 55th at 24-over (78-84-78=240), freshman Charmaine Erasmus (Bradenton, Fla.) in 61st at 27-over (84-80-79=243) and junior Nicole Deacon (Scottsdale, Ariz.) in 67th at 28-over (81-82-81=244).

The team title was claimed by Oklahoma (293-305-290=888) at 24-over while Christine Boucher of Kansas State ran away with the individual title, carding a three-under for the tournament (75-71-67=213).

At the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, the Sun Devils combined for a team score of 82-over par (306-322-318=946), with freshman Tiffany Tavee (Gilbert, Ariz.) in 17th leading the way for ASU at 13-over, after scoring a 74 for her final two rounds (81-74-74=229). Following her were junior Erin Tone (Gilbert, Ariz.) in 34th at 18-over (74-83-77=234), junior Josefin Gustafsson (Falkoping, Sweden) in 42nd and 22-over (73-83-82=238) and senior Beatriz Conti (Caracas, Venezuela) in 67th at 33-over. Junior Jamie Michaud (University Place, Wash.) withdrew from competition on the final day.

Arizona nabbed the team title in Redmond (299-293-304=896) at 32-over while Arizona's Erica Blasberg (76-69-74=219) and USC's Irene Cho (70-76-73=219) tied for the individual title.

ASU women's golf is in action next at the Stanford Intercollegiate, October 16-18 in Palo Alto, Calif.
