Women's Volleyball falls to Arizona, 3-1

LOS ANGELES - The UCLA women's volleyball team fell to Arizona, 3-1, on Friday night in Pauley Pavilion. Game scores were 30-26, 24-30, 30-18, 30-22. Brynn Murphy and Colby Lyman led the Bruins in kills in the match, recording 10 kills apiece.
The Bruins scored the first six points of the opening game, but the Wildcats fought back to tie the game at 10-10. Arizona would not take its first lead until later in the game, when UA put together a six-point run that included four Bruin hitting errors and culminated with a 28-24 Wildcat lead. Arizona would close out the game by a score of 30-26 as the Bruins hit .000 as a team in the opening game of the match.
UCLA bounced back in game two, taking an early 3-1 lead and never looked back. Arizona got to within four points late in the game at 26-22, but UCLA closed out the game with a 30-24 win on a kill by setter Krystal McFarland. UCLA hit .302 as a team in the game, downing 18 kills on 43 attacks with just five errors. Murphy and Lyman had identical .579 attack percentages in the game with four kills on an error-free seven attacks for each player. Heather Cullen also recorded four kills in the game for the Bruins.
After the break, UCLA again took an early 5-2 lead, but the Wildcats then stormed to 10 straight points, taking a 12-5 lead. The Bruins could not close the gap, again hitting .000 as a team in the game. In game four, UCLA trailed throughout, falling 30-22 to lose the match three games to one.
UCLA returns to action on Saturday night with a 7 pm start against Arizona State in Pauley Pavilion.
