Women's Basketball Combines With GAME FACE For Free Clinic
Oct. 16, 2003
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State University's women's basketball head coach Judy Spoelstra will be conducting a free clinic on Saturday, Nov. 8, associated with the GAME FACE program.
GAME FACE is a program designed to teach young women to value themselves and make good choices not only in sports, but in life. The educational outreach helps youths to find a balance between elite achievement in sports and playing for the simple joy of participation.
In association with MassMutual Financial Group, Spoelstra and other members of the OSU women's basketball coaching staff as well as current athletes will be on hand to teach the GAME FACE system. Joining the women's basketball program will be athletes from the Oregon State softball, women's soccer, women's golf and gymnastics teams.
'GAME FACE is an outstanding values exploration workshop for young girls to explore the important aspects of participation in sports and physical activity,' said Spoelstra.
Young women ages 10-17 can attend the free clinic which runs from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. on the third floor of the OSU Valley Football Center. Lunch will be provided by The Headline Caf for all of the clinic participants.

Just over 60 young women participated in last year's GAME FACE clinic.
'Last year's clinic had a great turnout and with the addition of more OSU women's sports programs, we are hoping for an even greater turnout this year,' said Spoelstra.
