No. 12 Washington Volleyball Sweeps Washington State

PULLMAN, Wash.- The 12th-ranked Washington volleyball team (14-4, 5-4 Pac-10) defeated cross state rival Washington State (7-12, 3-6 Pac-10) in straight games this evening at Bohler Gymnasium. Game scores were 30-26, 30-26, 31-29.

Three Huskies notched double figure kills as Washington hit .331 as a team. Sophomore outside hitter Brie Hagerty led the way with 17 kills, while Sanja Tomasevic added 14 kills and Kaitlin Leck had 10.

Freshman setter Courtney Thompson paced the Husky offense with 54 assists while also picking up 10 digs on the night. Candace Lee chipped in 10 digs for Washington.

Zanda Bautre led the Cougars with 15 kills and 11 digs.

Fox Sports Northwest will televise tonight's game on a tape-delayed basis on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Huskies return to Seattle for a home stand next weekend against Stanford and California. Pac-10 action starts on Thursday, October 23 against the seventh-ranked Cardinal and rounds out against the fifth-ranked Bears on Friday, October 24. Game time is slated for 7 p.m. both nights.
