Cal Performs Well Early at Regionals

EUGENE, Ore. - Cal was an amazing 9-1 in its first-round singles match-ups at the Northwest Regional Championships in Eugene, Ore. The Bears all had their serve and volley games going Friday, to open up Cal's first big team tournament of the fall. The following is a listing of their first-round results:

Chris Floyd of Washington 6-3, 7-5Jon Pettit d. Manuel KOst of Oregon 6-0, 6-1Kuni Minato d. Bryce Cooper of Ganzaga 6-4, 6-3Balazs Veress d. Tyler Bedillion of Santa Clara 6-3, 6-2Wayne Wong d. Cater Morris of Stanford 3-6, 6-4, 6-4Jake Leivent d. Vladimir Pino of Oregon 6-0, 6-1.

In early second-round action, Niland downed Daniel Chu of Washington 6-2, 7-6, and Wallace fell to Thomas Bieri of Oregon 6-2, 7-6.
