Bring Back the Glory

Corvallis, Ore. - 'Bring Back the Glory!'
The Oregon State University Athletic Department is introducing a new season ticket plan for this season. For $75 you can see all 19 games in Gill Coliseum, including match-ups with perennial national powers Arizona, Stanford, and UCLA, as well as the annual Civil War. The package also includes non-league games against Big 12 Conference member Kansas State and regional foes Boise State and Portland.
'Some of the most difficult games we had when I was on the staff at Arizona were in Gill Coliseum; we lost two games here, including once when we were third in the nation. A major factor in our struggles was the raucous atmosphere in this building -- it can be a very intimidating place.'
Those words come from second-year men's basketball head coach Jay John on the fan support he has witnessed in Gill Coliseum.
'I grew up watching Pac-10 basketball and I'm aware of the sellout streak, the championships, the All-Americans, all the tradition that is Oregon State basketball,' John added. 'My goal is to restore that tradition with your help. I want you to come back to Oregon State basketball and be a part of a growing program'
The special season ticket price is valid for all bench seats located in the upper bowl. These seats normally sell for $165, but starting Mon., Oct. 27, you can save 55 percent.
'This is a terrific opportunity to watch Pac-10 basketball at a very affordable price,' Director of Athletics Bob De Carolis said. 'We want the Beaver Nation to return to Gill Coliseum and witness the rebirth of the program.'
The 2003-2004 team features no seniors for the first time in 25 years, and has seven first year players in the program.
'I think Beaver fans will enjoy watching this team grow,' John said. 'We have a youthful exuberance, a desire to learn and compete, and a group who wants to play in front of a packed house. Your support makes a huge difference.'
The nation's 12th-winningest program opens the season with an exhibition game Tues., Nov. 11 against EA Sports in Gill Coliseum. The team starts regular season action Sat., Nov. 22 in Corvallis against defending Southwest Athletic Conference champion Prairie View.
