Husky Golfers Head to Nelson Invitational This Weekend

Seattle - The Washington men's golf team will travel to Stanford this weekend for the Nelson Invitational, October 24-26, at the Stanford Golf Course (par 71, 6,835 yards). The teams will play 18 holes each day with tee times for the first and second rounds starting at 8 a.m. from the first and 10th tees. The final round will be a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m.

Fifteen teams from around the nation will participate in the tournament: Colorado, Colorado State, UC Davis, Duke, Florida Southern, Hawaii-Hilo, Idaho, Kansas, Missouri, Notre Dame, host-Stanford, Texas Tech, Toledo, USC and Washington.

Washington finished second at last year's event, trailing tournament champion Duke by seven strokes. The Blue Devils won the event after firing an 11-under 841. Duke's Leif Olson was crowned the individual champion with a score of 12-under 201. Washington's Brock Mackenzie placed second at 11-under 202.

Mackenzie enters this year's tournament ranked as the top player in the nation in the Golfweek/Sagarin power ratings. Mackenzie led the Huskies to victory at the Opus NW Husky Invitational. He shot 8-under 208 to help the Huskies to a 21-stroke victory.
