Gregorio, Taylor Selected to Soccer America's Team of the Week
Oct. 22, 2003
After leading UCLA to Pac-10 wins over Cal and Stanford, UCLA seniors Adolfo Gregorio (Hilmar, CA/Hilmar HS) and Matt Taylor (Irvine, CA/Irvine HS) were selected to Soccer America's Team of the Week for games played Oct. 13-19.
Gregorio earned his first Team of the Week honor of the season and second of his career with a one-goal, four-assist effort over the weekend. In UCLA's 4-2 win over Cal, he recorded the second three-assist game of his career, and against Stanford, he assisted on the game-winning goal and scored a goal of his own to lead the Bruins to a 3-0 win. Gregorio, who is on the Watch List for the M.A.C. Hermman Trophy, leads the team with a career-high 10 assists and ranks third in scoring with 16 points. He ranks fourth in the nation in assists per game (0.83).
Taylor was selected to the Team of the Week for the second consecutive week and for the fourth time in his career after a three-goal, two assist weekend. Taylor scored the game-winning goals in both games and netted two goals and one assist against Cal and one goal and one assist against Stanford. He was named the National Player of the Week by College Soccer News, as well as the Pac-10 Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season. Taylor leads the team in goals scored (13) and points (29) and ranks second nationally in goals per game (1.08) and fourth in points per game (2.42).
