2004 Cal Baseball Team Hosts Alumni Game Sunday

BERKELEY, CA - The 2004 California baseball team, featuring eight returning starters and a freshman class that is ranked fifth-best nationally by Baseball America, will host the annual Cal Baseball Alumni Game, Sunday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. at Evans Diamond. Admission is free.
The Bears, who finished 28-27 last season under head coach David Esquer, return several experienced players, including senior right fielder Brian Horwitz (.347), senior catcher Chris Grossman (.341), senior right-hander Matt Brown (14 career saves) and junior right-hander Jesse Ingram (nine career saves). Cal also showcases a large class of 16 newcomers with 6-6, 190-pound left-handed outfielder Brennan Boesch; 6-2, 175-pound catcher Garrett Bussiere; 6-5, 210-pound left-handed pitcher Case Dahlen; 6-1, 195-pound switch-hitting outfielder Chris Errecart and 6-3, 175-pound right-hander pitcher Brandon Morrow, earning mention in Baseball America.
The Cal Baseball Alumni Day was first established by former Bear coaching great Clint Evans in 1946. The Bears will open their regular 2004 season with a three-game series versus Brigham Young, beginning Thursday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. at Evans Diamond.
