OSU Women's Crew Compete At Portland LOOP Regatta.

PORTLAND, Ore. - - The OSU Women's crew team continued their fall season at the 15th annual Portland LOOP Regatta on Saturday on the Willamette River.

The Beaver's varsity eight finished second behind the University of Washington with a time of 26:38:30. The Beavers Kristen Reid had a close call during the race when her oar got snagged with a fisherman's line. Reid's oar slammed into her stomach and the incident led to precious seconds of downtime. UW finished the race with a time of 25:29.40.

The Beavers second varsity eight recorded a time of 27:38.48, which was good for second place behind UW. The Huskies second varsity finished with a time of 25:51.30. 'It was an OK race,' said head coach Charlie Owen. We have only been practicing for a week now and this team is still figuring out how to work with each other.'

The Beavers varsity four won their race with a time of 30:54.46. Oregon's varsity four finished second with a time of 32:58.40, over two minutes after the Beavers finished the race. 'Its always great to win a race. Our teams did a good job out here today.' said Owen.

The Portland LOOP Regatta is a nearly three-mile course that starts in Lake Oswego and finishes at Oaks Park.
