USC Falls To Texas

Sophomore Ous Mellouli won two races and freshmen Larsen Jensen and Michael Hilde also posted wins, but USC fell short against Texas, losing 193-160 on Saturday (Oct. 25) at USC's McDonald's Swim Stadium on the final day of the two-day short-course meters meet.
After Texas finished one-two in the 200m medley relay, Jensen came back for the Trojans in the 1500m free, winning in 15:13.37, an NCAA consideration time. Sophomore Tyler Storie was second in 15:48.35 and senior co-captain Matt Peterson was third in 16:08.91.
Mellouli won his first race of the day by taking the 200m free in 1:48.89 (NCAA B cut). Texas sophomore Aaron Peirsol took second (1:49.91) while USC senior co-captain Trent Staley was third (1:51.40).
Texas junior Andrew Davidson won the 100m back in 56.03, edging Staley's 56.19. Longhorn sophomore Christian Schuu won the 100m breast in 1:03.30 while USC freshman Joon Youm took second (1:05.69).
Texas juniors Nathan O'Brien (2:04.80) and Rainer Kendrick (2:05.65) finished first and second, respectively, in the 200m fly. Longhorn freshman Tyler O'Halloran won the 50m free in 23.29, edging Trojan freshman Sean Sussex, who touched in 23.33.
Mellouli won his second event of the day by winning the 200m IM (2:02.51) while junior Paul Fahey was second in 2:06.14.
Hilde won his second diving event of the two-day meet, winning the 1-meter in 294.85. He edged freshman teammate Kenny Jenkins, who was second with 290.95.
USC's relay of Sussex, sophomore Tyler Panos, Staley and Mellouli won the 400m free relay in 3:22.99.
