No. 25 Soccer Drops 3-1 Decision To No. 19 USC

TEMPE, Ariz. - Two second-half goals on corner kicks by USC junior Shannon Cross proved to be the difference Sunday as the No. 19 USC Trojans defeated the No. 25 Arizona State Sun Devils, 3-1, in Pac-10 Conference action at McAlister Field in Los Angeles. The Women of Troy improve to 7-6-4 overall and 3-2-1 in Pac-10 play while Arizona State falls to 8-4-3 overall and 2-2-1 in conference.

Holly Azevedo scored her second goal of the year, putting the Sun Devils on top at 40:10 off a corner kick from Manya Makoski. Cross scored her first goal of the season at 51:14 in front of the net after the ball bounced off the crossbar. She put the Trojans ahead at 57:38 when she headed her second goal of the game off a volley from senior midfielder Megan Abbamonto. Kelly Blais added an open-net goal at 89:29 with her third goal of the season.

Up next, the Devils return home for their final two home matches of the regular season as they take on Oregon on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Oregon State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
