Mike Williams Named A Semifinalist For The Biletnikoff Award

Sophomore wide receiver Mike Williams has been named 1 of 10 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation's top collegiate wide receiver.
Williams, also a contender for the Heisman Trophy, currently has 54 receptions for 786 yards (14.6 average) and 8 touchdowns. He is 10th nationally in receiving yards (98.3) and is tied for 14th nationally in receptions (6.8).
He already is seventh on USC's career receptions list (135) and has 10 100-yard receiving games in his young career (5 times in 2003). He has caught 22 touchdowns in his 21-game career (and he has had multiple TD games 6 times, including twice getting a USC game record-tying 3 TDs). Only Kevin Williams (25), Johnnie Morton and R. Jay Soward (23 each) have more career TD catches at USC. He is averaging a touchdown every 6.3 times he touches the ball (22 TDs on 139 touches, including his 3 rushes and 1 pass attempt).
The 2003 pre-season All-American won Freshman All-American first team status last fall and was the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year when he set NCAA frosh records for receiving yards (1,265) and receiving touchdowns (14) and the Pac-10 frosh mark for receptions (81).
Joining him as 2003 Biletnikoff Award semifinalists are Pittsburgh's Larry Fitzgerald, Oklahoma State's Rashaun Woods, Washington's Reggie Williams, Texas' Roy Williams, Miami's Kellen Winslow, Oklahoma's Mark Clayton, LSU's Michael Clayton, North Carolina State's Jerricho Cotchery and Florida State's Craphonso Thorpe.
The winner will be announced in December.
