Women's Volleyball Drops To UCLA In Four Games

LOS ANGELES - The 10th-ranked Washington volleyball team dropped to eighth-ranked UCLA in four games on Saturday night in Pauley Pavilion with game scores of 30-23, 26-30, 26-30, 26-30. Washington (15-7, 6-7 Pac-10) was led by Sanja Tomasevic with 23 kills and Candace Lee with 25 digs but were unable to topple the Bruins. With the win, UCLA improves to 19-4 overall and 10-3 in the Pac-10.

The Huskies opened the match with an impressive .452 attack percentage in game one, taking an early 5-1 lead in the game and never allowig the Bruins to tie the game. Tomasevic posted seven of her kills in the game, hitting .538.

In game two, Washington again took the early lead, sprinting out to a 7-3 lead. This time, however, the Bruins would fight back to tie the game at 9-9. From there, the teams battled back and forth and were tied as late as 23-23 before the Bruins extended a lead and won the game 30-26.

The Bruins took games three and four, 30-26 to finish out the match.

Tomasevic was the leading scorer for both teams, posting 23 kills and eight digs for a match-high 25.5 points. Brie Hagerty added 19 kills and Kara Bjorklund had 13 kills in the loss.

The Huskies return to action next week when they host Oregon State and Oregon on November 7-8. Game times are slated for 7 p.m.
