The Stanford Men's Varsity 'A' Boat was stopped short in the quest to defend the Open Men's 8+ title while leading Sunday's race. The impact and subsequent damage with one mile to go, hindered the Cardinal as the shell limped to the finish line.
The Cardinal 'B' boat not to be outdone, made a radical left turn and introduced itself to the same buoy. This occurred after it appeared the shell was lined up for a strong finish.
