Bruins Drop Tight Match to Blue Devils

The second-ranked UCLA women's golf team dropped a tight semifinal match to top-ranked Duke at the Collegiate Match Play Championships at the Barefoot Resort in North Myrtle Beach, SC.

Duke won 3-1-1 as four matches advanced to the 16th hole. At No.1, Duke's Elizabeth Janangelo beat UCLA junior Yvonne Choe, 5 and 4. In the No.2 spot, Duke's Virada Nirapathpangporn defeated freshman Hannah Jun, 3 and 2. Brittany Lang of Duke rallied from two holes down after the 13th hole against UCLA's Charlotte Mayorkas to square her match. Duke's Anna Grzebien won 1-up against UCLA's Krystal Shearer. Sophomore Susie Mathews won 2 and 1 against Duke's Leigh Anne Hardin.

On Wednesday, the Bruins will meet Auburn in the third place match. The Tigers lost 4-1 to Georgia in the second semifinal match.
