Women's Hoops Picked to Finish Fourth By Media

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's basketball team has been picked to finish fourth in the Pac-10 Conference, according to a poll of media members who cover the league regularly.

ASU, which opens the 2003-04 season on Thursday night with an exhibition game against Latvian Select at Wells Fargo Arena, was picked to finish fifth in the league in a poll of Pac-10 coaches.

The Sun Devils received 121 points in the poll and were 19 points behind third-place Washington. ASU was picked to finish sixth last year and second in 2001-02.

Defending league champion Stanford was picked to finish first by both the media and the coaches this season.

The Sun Devils open the regular season at home with Akron on Friday, Nov. 21 and Grambling State on Sunday, Nov. 23 at Wells Fargo Arena.
