Alex Vlaski and Alex Slovic Set To Compete At ITA National Indoors

SEATTLE, Wash. -Washington men's tennis players Alex Vlaski and Alex Slovic will compete as a doubles duo at the 2003 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, held at the University of Michigan Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, Mich., Nov. 6-9. Vlaski will also compete in the singles draw as the tournament's No. 1 seed.

Vlaski, a junior from Belgrade, Yugoslavia, will face Jeff Kader from William and Mary in the first round of singles play, Thursday. Second round and quarterfinal action will be held Friday, with semifinals Saturday and finals on Sunday.

Vlaski and Slovic, a freshman from Pancevo, Yugoslavia, will face the third-seeded team of Zoltan Csanadi and Izak van der Merwe from Old Dominion in the first round of doubles, Thursday. Quarterfinals will take place on Thursday, with semifinals on Friday and finals on Saturday.

Vlaski earned his trip to the National Indoor Championships by winning the 2003 ITA All-American Championship singles final in October. Vlaski and Slovic advanced to the doubles bracket by winning the ITA Northwest Regional crown.

Vlaski competed in singles at last year's National Indoors, advancing as far as the quarterfinals. This will be Slovic's first time competing at the tournament.
