No. 7 Cardinal Close Out Conference Play With Sweep Of Oregon State

Stanford, Calif. - Senior middle blocker Jennifer Harvey tallied nine kills, three service aces and six blocks as the seventh-ranked Stanford women's volleyball team swept Oregon State, 3-0, at Maples Pavilion tonight. Game scores were 30-27, 30-26, 30-21.
The Cardinal improve to 21-6 overall, 14-4 in Pac-10 play, while the Beavers fall to 15-15, 5-13 in league action.
The two teams remained close to open game one as Stanford took a 15-13 lead into the media timeout after back-to-back blocks by Jennifer Harvey and Anna Robinson. OSU would take their first timeout trailing 14-18 as Ogonna Nnamani notched her fourth kill of the game. But the Beavers would close the gap and tie up the game at 23-all forcing the first Cardinal timeout. Stanford went up 26-24 on another Nnamani kill as Oregon State burned their final timeout. The Cardinal reached game point on Nnamani's ninth kill of the game at 29-26. A kill by Sara Dukes ended the game at 30-27.
OSU took an early 9-5 lead in game two but the Cardinal would rally and lead 15-14 heading into the media timeout on a Jennifer Harvey kill. Oregon State took a timeout trailing 16-19 after another Harvey kill and used their final timeout at 22-27. Stanford reached game point on a Beaver service error at 29-24. OSU held off two game points before Ogonna Nnamani put the game away with a kill at 30-26.
With game three tied at 11-all, Stanford rattled off four quick points to take a 15-11 advantage into the media timeout. The Cardinal led 22-17 after a kill by Jennifer Harvey and pushed the lead to 27-19 on a kill by Nnamani. Sara Dukes got Stanford to game and match point on a kill at 29-20 and a Beaver hitting error gave the Cardinal its 14 conference win of the season at 30-21.
Junior outside hitter Ogonna Nnamani led the match with 18 kills and 19.5 points while hitting at a .410 clip. Freshman outside hitter Kristin Richards notched a double-double on the night with 13 kills and a match-high 15 digs. Senior middle blocker Sara Dukes added eight kills (8-0-11) and four blocks while hitting .727 for the Cardinal. Stanford hit .371 for the match and outblocked the Beavers, 11-2.
Oregon State was led by Anne Watts-Roberts and Allison Lawrence who chipped in 10 kills each. Libero K.C. Frederic led the team with 11 digs on the evening.
Stanford is back in action next week in a non-conference match against No. 13 Santa Clara on Tuesday, November 25 in Santa Clara.
