MOORE AND GILL NAMED ALL-TOURANMENT: Senior guard Marcus Moore (Inglewood, Calif.)and junior forward Shami Gill (Mission, British Columbia) were named to the BP Top of the World ClassicAll-Tournament Team...Moore averaged 16.7 points, including a game-high 20 in 57-51 win over AlaskaFairbanks...20th career game with 20 or more points...notched 11 assists and six steals in tournament...Gillaveraged 6.3 points and eight rebounds during TOWC...pulled down 10 boards against Alaska Fairbanks.

WSU SNAPS ROAD LOSING STREAK: With the 57-51 over host Alaska Fairbanks, WSU broke a 27-game road losing streak...previous win was 58-57 at Arizona State, Feb. 8, 2001.

DEFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS FROM ALASKA: WSU held VMI to 36 percent shooting from the floor insecond half of opener...gave up 46 points, lowest total by Cougar opponent since 61-42 win over Oregon State,Feb. 8, 1996...held Alaska Fairbanks to 26 percent shooting in second half and just three field goals in final10:59...gave up 97 combined points in first two games marking best two-game stretch since 89, Dec. 3-9, 1988.

COUGARS REGISTER EARLY SEASON VICTORIES: WSU has won 13 of its last 15 season openersincluding a 10-game win streak from 1989-90 through 1998-99.

WSU RETURNS TRIP TO SOUTHERN UTAH: Friday's game at Southern Utah is a return of a home-and-homeseries with Southern Utah...Cougars defeated Thunderbirds 72-66 in Pullman, Nov. 25, 2002...MarcusMoore (Inglewood, Calif.) 28 points and 10 rebounds in win...Justin Lyman scored 15 points and ThomasKelati (Walla Walla) added 11 points...David Palmer led Southern Utah with 18 points and eightboards...WSU trailed 33-29 at intermission.

SERIES WITH THUNDERBIRDS: WSU leads 2-0...defeated Thunderbirds 95-73 in Pullman, Dec. 10,1988...Brian Quinnett and Brian Wright led WSU with 23 and 22 points, respectively.
