WSU Falls To Southern Utah

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) - David Palmer scored 14 points as Southern Utah beatWashington State 55-36 on Friday night.
DeAngelo Newsom added 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Thunderbirds(2-1), who held Washington (2-2) leading scorer Marcus Moore scoreless on0-for-9 shooting.
With the score tied at 6-6 with 13 minutes remaining in the first half,Palmer hit a 3-pointer to spark a 17-0 Southern Utah run. The Cougars finallyscored on a jumpshot by Thomas Kelati with 6:08 to play in the first half.
The Thunderbirds built a 29-13 halftime lead, but managed just five pointsin the first 11 minutes of the second half. The Cougars cut the lead to eightpoints, but Southern Utah scored seven straight points to open up a 43-28 leadwith just under six minutes to play.
Kelati scored 13 points and Shami Gill had 10 rebounds for the Cougars, whoshot 7-for-36 from 3-point range.
