Stanford's Chris Hernandez Named Pac-10 Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - STANFORD guard Chris Hernandez has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for November 24 - November 30, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Hernandez, a sophomore from Fresno, Calif., led the Cardinal to a pair of wins last week against UC Irvine and Rice. In the two victories, Hernandez averaged 19.5 points on 12-of-15 (.800) shooting, including 8-of-10 (.800) from three-point range, to go with 4.5 assists-per game average. In the win over UC Irvine, Hernandez posted a career-high 22 points on 8-of-9 shooting, hitting 6-of-7 from three-point range, while adding five assists and no turnovers. In the come-from-behind win at Rice, he scored 17 points (15 in the second half), hitting 7-of-7 from the free throw line, to go with four assists and a pair of steals.
The Cardinal are off to a fast start, having won three in a row. They travel to Anaheim, Calif., to play Kansas in the John Wooden Classic on Saturday.
This is the first weekly honor for Hernandez, and the 31st award all-time for the Cardinal.
