Oregon Defeats Portland State 62-55

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Luke Jackson scored 22 points, including 14 in thesecond half, as Oregon held off a late Portland State rally to win 62-55 onTuesday.
It was the 23rd straight nonconference win at home for the Ducks (2-0), whowere playing for the first time in 11 days. It was the 18th consecutive roadloss for the Vikings (1-3).
Oregon's Ian Crosswhite added 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting, while BrandonLincoln scored 12. Seth Scott led Portland State with 15 points before foulingout in the final minute. Sheu Oduniyi added 11 for the Vikings.
Jackson scored 10 points in the first nine minutes of the second half as theDucks quickly turned a 28-22 halftime lead into a 48-34 advantage with 11:04 toplay.
But it wasn't enough to put the Vikings away, as Seamus Boxley and Scottscored four points each to spark an 11-3 run as Portland State cut the deficitto 51-45 with 4:53 remaining.
A tip-in by Boxley with 3:30 to play pulled the Vikings to within 52-48.That was as close as they would come, though, as the Ducks converted all 10 oftheir free throws down the stretch to secure the win.
Oregon led by only six points at half, as 11 first-half turnovers and a 41percent shooting percentage hindered its ability to take advantage of a 13:13stretch where Portland State failed to score a field goal.
The Vikings took a 12-9 lead at the 14:43 mark following a basket inside byScott. But Portland missed its next 13 attempts from the field before Oduniyihit a 3-pointer with a little over a minute before halftime. In the meantime,the Ducks went on an 18-2 run to go up 27-14.
But an 8-1 run to close out the half brought the Vikings back.
