Huskies Complete First Day Of U.S. Open Competition
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - Senior Phil Davis led the Washington swimming team at the U.S. Open this evening, placing fifth in the 200-meter breaststroke in a time of 1:03.06. The time broke the UW school record, qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trails and set a NCAA `B' time standard.
Other highlights included a third place finish by the men's 800 freestyle relay and a 10th place finish by the women in that event.
The team is in ninth place after the first day of competition. Swimming action continues tomorrow with preliminary races starting at 11 a.m. and finals beginning at 6 p.m.
