KovÃ¯Â¿Â½cs Wins 200m IM At Texas Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas. - At the first day of competition at the prestigious Texas Invitational, Arizona State women's junior All-American swimmer ï¿½gnes Kovï¿½cs took home first place in the 200m IM with a time of 2:15.96 in the long course meters event.
The time converts to a short course yards equivalent of 1:59.96, Kovï¿½cs' fastest time of the season and the fourth-fastest in the nation. It is a NCAA automatic qualifying time.
Banovic finished first in the evening's B final of the 400m freestyle, touching the wall in 4:20.76 to claim ninth overall. Armour competed in the 50m freestyle, finishing second in the B final with a time of 26.86. That converts to a career-best short course yards time of 23.51. Fischer finished first in the 100m butterfly C final, good for 17th overall, after clocking a 1:03.88. That converts to a career-best short course yards time of 56.25.
The Sun Devil men had one swimmer competing on Thursday, with Hickman taking sixth in the 50m freestyle C final with a time of 24.69.
Action resumes tomorrow at the Texas Invitational which is an unscored event this year. The morning preliminary sessions are held in short course yards while the evening's finals are in long course meters.
