Birte Steven Wins 200-meter Breaststroke to Round Out Day Three at United States Open

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State finished the third and last day at the United States Open with one swimmer winning an event and two others finishing with 'B' and 'C' standard times.

Senior All-American Birte Steven added to her impressive resume with a win in the 200-meter breaststroke, while junior Mari Embertson finished 28th. Sophomores Monika Miroslaw and Christina Kinney finished 16th and 20th, respectively, in the 200 butterfly.

Miroslaw made the 'B' standard time while Kinney earned the 'C' standard time after having to participate in a swim-off during the preliminaries to make the cut for the finals.

Next for the Beavers is a triple-dual meet at Hawaii on Dec. 18. Swimming is slated to start at 4 p.m.
