Trojans Fall In Provo

PROVO, Utah (AP) - Rafael Araujo scored 28 points and pulled down 11rebounds and Brigham Young beat Southern California 85-61 Saturday night.

The Cougars (6-1) won their eighth straight at home and 37th in a row inProvo against non-conference opponents.

Mark Bigelow scored 17 points on three of four 3-pointers as the Cougarsagain shot well from 3-point range, making 12 of 24. Michael Rose and KevinWoodberry scored 11 points apiece and Luiz Lemes had 9 assists and 8 reboundsfor the Cougars.

Freshman Rodrick Stewart led the Trojans (3-3) with a career-high 14 points,scoring nine in the first four minutes of the second half as USC cut the leadto 11. But that was as close as the Trojans would get.

Both teams had a hard time holding onto the ball, turning it over 19 timeseach. BYU had 27 points off turnovers, while the Trojans scored 15 off BYUturnovers.

BYU shot 53 percent from the field. The Trojans made just 29 percent oftheir free throws.

Araujo scored 10 points in a 19-1 BYU run when the Cougars held USC withouta field goal for 6:20. Rory O'Neill hit a 3-pointer with 4:48 to go in thefirst half to end the run, and USC trailed at halftime 45-31.

Stewart's previous career high was 10 against Western Michigan on Nov. 21.
