Dec. 15, 2003
TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State soccer player Amy LePeilbet (Crystal Lake, Illinois) has been named to the 2003 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America second team, announced Monday by the NSCAA. This is LePeilbet's first All-America honor by the NSCAA and second straight All-America honor as she claimed Soccer Buzz honors last year.
LePeilbet, one of the two most decorated soccer players in Arizona State history, was a main component in helping to carry the Sun Devils into the second round of the NCAA Championships, the team's second consecutive and third NCAA appearance in the last four years.
LePeilbet, the team's top defender, played a major role in ASU's nationally ranked program. A U.S. U-21 National Team player and a three-time All-Pacific-10 Conference first team selection, LePeilbet did not miss a start in her four-years at ASU, playing in 74 career games.
A two-time Academic All-American as well, majoring in education with a 3.81 G.P.A., she helped the team finish with a 13-5-3 record and a final national ranking of 14th in the nation. As team's top defender, LePeilbet also scored three goals, including two game-winners while leading a defense that allowed 1.05 goals per game and posted eight shutouts.
