Husky Women Selected To Compete In USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships

SKILLMAN, N.J. - Washington's women's tennis squad is one of 16 teams selected to compete in the 2004 USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships, hosted by the University of Wisconsin, Feb. 5-8, in Madison, Wisc.
In addition to Washington, the field for this year's competition includes BYU, California, Georgia, Harvard, Kentucky, North Carolina, Northwestern, USC, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCLA, Vanderbilt, William & Mary and host Wisconsin.
The USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championship is collegiate tennis' premier indoor team tournament. The women's championship has been held since 1988. Each season this tournament also offers a preview of the teams to beat in the May NCAA Championships.
Stanford has dominated play at the National Team Indoor Championships, winning a record six national team indoor titles.
The collegiate tennis dual match season begins in January and concludes in May with the season-ending NCAA Championships. The Huskies open the 2004 season hosting the annual Pac-10 Indoor Championships at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center, Friday, Jan. 16, through Sunday, Jan. 18. UW's dual season begins Friday, Jan. 23, as the Huskies host Portland at 1:30 p.m.
