UCLA Signs Three Junior College Prospects
Dec. 18, 2003
Three junior college football student-athletes have signed national letters of intent to attend UCLA, head coach Karl Dorrell announced today.
The three signees are defensive lineman Kyle Morgan, tight end Matt Raney and offensive lineman Marc Villafuerte.
'Kyle, Matt and Marc fill immediate areas of need in our program,' said Dorrell. 'They will all benefit by participating in Spring Practice and we expect them all to help us next season.'
Morgan (6-3, 263) attended Pearl River Community College in Mississippi, and was a standout defensive end. He originally signed with the University of Miami out of San Francisco's Galileo High School. He will enroll in January and have two seasons of eligibility.
Raney (6-4, 245) made 27 receptions for 402 yards at Phoenix (AZ) City College. He will enroll in January and has two seasons of eligibility remaining and three years in which to complete them.
Villafuerte (6-3 1/2, 290), an offensive lineman from Santa Ana (CA) Junior College, will enroll in January and has four years to complete three seasons of eligibility. He was a two-time All-Century League player and an All-CIF performer at Anaheim (CA) Canyon High School.
UCLA is expected to sign at least two more junior college prospects in the near future.
