Nicole Powell Named Pac-10 Player of the Week

STANFORD, Calif. - For the second time this season, Stanford senior forward Nicole Powell has been named the Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Powell has earned the award seven times during her tenure on the Farm.

Powell, from Phoenix, Ariz., averaged 22.0 points, and 10.5 rebounds as the Cardinal downed Arizona State (60-46) and Arizona (84-62) last weekend. In two games, she shot 48.1 percent from the floor (13-of-27), 53.8 percent from beyond the arc (7-of-13), and was a perfect 11-for-11 from the free-throw line.

Against Arizona State, Powell led the team with 29 points and nine rebounds. She recorded her sixth double-double of the season and the 37th in her career with 15 points and 12 rebounds against Arizona.

This season, Powell leads the Cardinal with 246 points and 132 rebounds and has averaged 20.5 ppg and 11.0 rpg. She currently ranks fourth in Stanford history with 1,681 career points.

Stanford stands as the only undefeated team in Pacific-10 Conference action this season as the squad heads into a Jan. 16 match-up at Cal.
