No. 27 Cal Defeats Sacramento State, Falls to No. 4 Washington

Seattle, Wash. - No. 27 California beat Sacramento State but fell to No. 4 Washington at Bank of America Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion. The Huskies scored 195.850, the Bears were second with 193.600 and the Hornets third at 188.900.
Washington took the early lead during the meet and never trailed. The Huskies opened with a 49.275 on vault, while Cal recorded at 48.775 on bars. Cal could never make up the deficit. The only event the Golden Bears won was the floor, scoring a 48.625 to Washington's 48.575. Cal was second in every other event, while Sacramento State was third in every event.
Cal's best events were bars (48.775) and floor (48.625). The Bears beam score (47.950) suffered when they experienced several falls.
Junior My-Lan Dodd's performance was a bright spot for the Bears. She finished second (39.250) in the all-around behind Washington's Emily Pritchard (39.600) and third on beam (9.850). Sophomore Monique Chang were the highest finishing Bears in any individual event. Chang finished second on the floor (9.850) and was also fourth on bars (9.850).
Next Friday, Jan. 23, the Bears open at Haas Pavilion by welcoming Arizona State, San Jose State and Utah State.
