SEATTLE (AP) -- Gioconda Mendiola scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Washington Huskies to an 87-74 victory over Oregon State on Saturday night.
Washington (10-7, Pac-10 3-5) used a 10-2 run midway through the second half to clinch the victory.
Shannon Howell scored a career-high 40 points for Oregon State (10-6, Pac-10 4-3) but got little help from her teammates. Brina Chaney was the only other Beaver to score in double figures with 17 points.
Howell's layup in traffic, with just over three minutes to play, pulled the Beavers to within five at 70-65. However, Gioconda Mendiola answered on the next possession with a dagger-like 3-pointer to secure the win.
Giuliana Mendiola, Gioconda's sister, finished with 16 points for Washington.
Oregon State had won four of its last five games but defeated Washington only four times in their last 15 meetings.
In the first half, Cameo Hicks scored eight straight points off the bench in a 12-0 run as the Huskies pulled to an early lead at 21-15.
The Huskies eventually led 41-35 at the break behind Gioconda Mendiola's nine points for the first half, which included a desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer.
