ASU VS. UW: The Arizona State Sun Devils, 20-12 in 2002-2003, play at the Washington Huskies at 5 p.m. PST on Jan. 31, 2004, to close the first half of the Pac-10 season. Seven first-year Sun Devils are currently in the rotation, as injured freshman guard Tron Smith (broken nose and pneumonia) returned to game action for the first time since Dec. 22 against Washington State Thursday. ASU has a junior college transfer (Stevie Moore), a sophomore newcomer (Allen Morill), two redshirt freshman (Serge Angounou and Kevin Kruger) and three true freshman (Tron Smith, Keith Wooden and Wilfried Fameni) all playing significant minutes. The Jan. 8 game against Stanford was his first game action since the Nov. 13, 2002, exhibition game when he injured it. ASU lost six seniors and 477 career games from its NCAA Tournament team last year. The Sun Devils fell to Washington State 63-56 on Thursday, as the Cougars outscored the Sun Devils 40-30 in the second half and forced 24 Sun Devil turnovers.
