Men's Golf Opens Spring Season With Fourth-Place Finish At Ping Arizona Intercollegiate

Tucson, Ariz. - The No. 19 USC men's golf team shot a season-low 848 over 54 holes to finish fourth at the Ping Intercollegiate held at the Arizona National Golf Course on Mon.-Tues. (Feb. 2-3).
USC's total, which included a season-low round of 274, put the Trojans 24 strokes behind team champ Arizona (824). New Mexico was second (834), while Wake Forest was fifth (852).
Junior Ben Hayes led Troy, as he opened the tournament with a first-round 68 on his way to a one-unde 212 overall, a total that tied him for 18th. Fellow junior Nico Bollini shot a personal-low 65 in round two on his way to an even-par 213, tied for 24th.
Chris Nallen of Arizona shot an 18 under 195 to win the individual titles, followed by Michael Putnam of Pepperdine at 200. Bill Haas of Wake Forest, Spencer Levin of New Mexico and Peter Tomasulo of California tied for third at 202.
The Trojans are next in action at the Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate in Waikoloa, Haw., on Feb. 11-13.
