Rosenthal Finishes Fourth To Lead Stanford At NCAA Zone E Meet

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Ashlee Rosenthal's fourth-place showing in the 1-meter competition led Stanford's efforts on the first day of the 2004 NCAA Zone E Diving Meet on Thursday at the Oklahoma Community College Pool. Rosenthal finished with a combined 532.65 points in the trials and finals rounds. Stanford's Cassidy Krug finished fifth in the event (524.35), while Erin Lashnits (17th, 429.30) also made the finals, while Sara Bowling placed 20th overall with 199.90 points in the trials only.
Arizona State's Trisha Tumlinson won the event with 564.70 points to automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, while Hawaii's QionjJie Huang (538.15) and Arizona's Mary Yarrison (533.95) completed the top three finishers.
'This is a real tough competition,' said Stanford head diving coach Rick Schavone. 'We're in the thick of things and in the middle of a long battle.'
The NCAA Zone E Diving Meet continues on Friday with the 3-meter event, followed by Saturday's platform competition. The winner from each of the three events automatically qualifies for the NCAA Championships, while other top finishers will also qualify and be announced on Saturday after the platform competition.
