Baseball Defeats Penn State 10-1 To Close Out Round Rock College Classic

ROUND ROCK, Texas- Arizona right-hander Kevin Guyette and three relievers combined to limit Penn State to just one run on three hits and the Wildcat offense jumped out to an early lead in a 10-1 victory over the Nittany Lions in the final game of the Round Rock College Classic on Saturday. The win improved the Wildcats to 11-7-1 for the year.
Guyette (3-2) picked up his third win of the year after giving up just one run on one hit in 6 2/3 innings of work. The sophomore, who gave up just an infield single in the second inning, finished with six strikeouts and six walks on the night and did not allow a runner past first base through the first six innings. He retired the PSU side in order in the third through fifth innings.
Paced by a two-run double by sophomore Jordan Brown, Arizona scored three runs in the first and added a pair of single runs in the second and third to jump out to a commanding 5-0 lead. UA tacked on two more runs on three hits in the sixth and three runs on four hits in the seventh to win going away.
Individually, Brown led all players with three of Arizona's 14 hits in the game. The first baseman also finished with three RBI and a pair of runs scored. Classmate Trevor Crowe added three hits in four at bats, three runs scored and two RBIs.
Arizona, which concluded its trip to Round Rock 2-1, will head to Southern California next week for a three game series against No. 9-ranked Long Beach State. First pitch for the series opener on Thursday is scheduled for 6:30 pm PST.
