Washington Softball Tops No. 7 Oklahoma

FULLERTON, Calif.- The ninth-ranked Washington softball team (21-6) defeated seventh-ranked Oklahoma (26-9-1) 1-0 this evening at the Kia Klassic. Sophomore Dena Tyson drove in the game-winner in the eighth inning to lift the Huskies to victory.
The Huskies and Sooners played to a scoreless tie through seven innings behind the pitching duel of Ashley Boek and Kami Kieter.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, with the international tiebreaker rule in effect and a runner placed on second base, Tyson delivered the game-winner with a two-out double. The game-winning hit marked the third for Tyson in the last four games.
Boek (12-3) picked up the victory scattering four hits and striking out eight. The shutout is the eight of the season for Boek.
The Huskies advance to the Kia Klassic semifinal Sunday at 11 a.m. Washington will play against the winner of tonight's Cal State Fullerton/ Florida State game.
