UCLA To Compete At North Carolina State In NCAA Gymnastics Regionals

The top-ranked UCLA Gymnastics team will travel to Raleigh, NC for the NCAA Southeast Regional Gymnastics Championships on Saturday, Apr. 3. Joining the Bruins in the Regional will be 12th-ranked North Carolina, 13th-ranked Nebraska, 21st ranked West Virginia, host and 22nd ranked North Carolina State and Maryland. The meet will take place in the Reynolds Coliseum at 6:00 pm Eastern Time.
The top two teams, as well as the top two all-around competitors not from an advancing team, at each regional will receive a berth in the NCAA Championships, which will be at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion Apr. 15-17. In addition, individual event winners not from a qualifying team or all-arounder will advance. Also competing at the meet will be five at-large individual all-around competitors and four at-large individual event specialists.
UCLA will begin the regional meet on the balance beam and will finish on the uneven bars. Maryland will begin on vault, North Carolina on a bye before bars, Nebraska on bars, North Carolina State on a bye before floor and West Virginia on floor.
Last season, the Bruins won the 2003 NCAA South Central Regional Championship at Missouri and went on to win the NCAA Championship in Lincoln, Neb.
The six regional fields and sites are as follows:
Southeast Region (Raleigh, NC, host North Carolina State) - No. 1 UCLA, No. 12 North Carolina, No. 13 Nebraska, No. 21 West Virginia, No. 22 North Carolina State, Maryland
Northeast Region (University Park, PA, host Penn State) - No. 4 Georgia, No. 9 Iowa State, No. 16 Missouri, No. 19 Michigan, Penn State, New Hampshire.
Central Region (Baton Rouge, LA, host LSU) - No. 6 BYU, No. 7 LSU, No. 17 Arizona State, No. 23 Auburn, No. 24 Kent State, Michigan State
South Central Region (Tucson, AZ, host Arizona) - No. 5 Utah, No. 8 Florida, No. 18 Arizona, No. 25 Arkansas, Illinois, Illinois- Chicago
North Central Region (Denver, CO, host Denver) - No. 2 Stanford, No. 11 Washington, No. 14 Denver, No. 20 Iowa, Minnesota, Southern Utah
West Region (Corvallis, OR, host Oregon State) - No. 3 Alabama, No. 10 Oregon State, No. 15 Oklahoma, California, Boise State, Cal State Fullerton
