No. 24 Arizona Completes Day One at Pac-10 Tournament

OJAI, Calif. - The No. 24 Arizona men's tennis team completed Pac-10 Championships Friday, April 2. Arizona earned one doubles win, while falling in two other doubles matches and one singles match.
In the main draw of the doubles competition, junior Colin O'Grady and sophomore Roger Matalonga earned a first round victory. The No. 34-ranked pair defeated No. 51 Johan Berg and Andriano Biaselia of USC, 8-6. The team of senior Whi Kim and sophomore Daniel Andrus fell to Alex Vlaski and Daniel Chu of Washington in a close match, 9-8 (2).
In the second round, Matalonga and O'Grady fell to California's No. 11-ranked Patrick Briaud and Balazs Veress, 8-4.
In the semifinals of the Invitational round, junior Paul Warkentin lost for the first time in a month and a half, when he fell to Aaron Yavon of UCLA, 6-3, 6-0.
The Wildcats have completed the regular season and will await the draws for the First and Second Rounds of the NCAA Championships. The draws will be announced May 5, on ESPN News.
