Varsity Four Takes Second In Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash.- - Oregon State women's varsity four took second place Saturday at the Opening Day Regatta at the Montlake Cut in Seattle in front of an estimated 40,000 spectators. Novice and junior varsity eights also raced, placing second and third, respectively.
The Beavers also participated in the open eight race, coming in third in the field of five teams.
Varsity four (second place) and jv eight (third place) each finished just over 10 seconds behind tough Washington crews, while the novice eight boat came in less than nine seconds behind the Washington 'A' squad.
The next action for women's varsity eight will be May 8 against the University of Washington in Vancouver, Wash., on Lake Vancouver. Racing is tentatively scheduled to start at 10 a.m.

VARSITY FOUR - 1. Washington 7:25.50; 2. OSU 7:36.05; 3. WSU 7:42.09.
JV EIGHT - 1. WSU 6:34.25; 2. Washington 6:38.13; 3. OSU 6:48.73; 4. UCLA 6:52.41.
NOVICE EIGHT - 1. Washington 'A' 6:41.94; 2. OSU 6:50.44; 3. WSU 6:53.05; 4. UCLA 7:00.11; 5. Washington 'B' 7:11.91.
OPEN EIGHT - 1. Washington 'A' 6:59.95; 2. Mixed 7:04.48; 3. OSU 7:02.03; 4. WSU 7:07.34; 5. Washington 'B' 7:12.16.
