Michael Bruce Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

Indianapolis, Ind. - The NCAA has awarded 58 postgraduate scholarships of 7,500 dollars each to 29 men and 29 women who participated in winter sports, which included women's archery, men's and women's basketball, women's bowling, men's and women's fencing, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's rifle, men's and women's skiing, women's squash, men's and women's swimming and diving, women's synchronized swimming, women's team handball, men's and women's indoor track and field, and wrestling.
Stanford senior swimmer Michael Bruce was one of only 12 swimmers to receive the honor. Bruce was a 2004 first-team Academic All-Pac-10 selection as well as posting a third place finish in the 200 breaststroke at the Pac-10 Championships. He is the Pac-10 record holder in this event (1:54.81 in 2002)as well as the Stanford record holder in this event. Bruce owns the Cardinal pool records in both the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke as well. He is a 12-time All-American over his career on The Farm.
