Coughlin Gives Back To Cal
May 4, 2004
LOS ANGELES - Former Cal swimmer Natalie Coughlin signed an endorsement deal with Speedo on April 29 that sends five percent of the performance bonus money she earns directly to Cal's program.
'I really believe in the collegiate experience and enjoyed my four years with the Cal-Berkeley swim program,' said Coughlin. 'Speedo's inclusion of a contribution to the program is a thoughtful recognition of my belief in giving back to the program that help me to get where I am today.'
Coughlin finished swimming for the Bears in March, but continues to train in Berkeley under Cal head coach Teri McKeever. She won eleven individual NCAA titles for Cal and the three-time Pac-10 and NCAA Swimmer of the Year has broken six world records and thirty-five American records in her career.
